
Allison Brooks Janney was born November 19, 1959. [2] She is an American actor. Through a long career that spans thirty years, she's recognized for her work in different genres of screen and stage. Janney was awarded various awards like the Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award as well as a Golden Globe Award, and seven Primetime Emmy Awards, in addition to nominations for 2 Tony Awards. Born in Boston and living in Dayton, Ohio, Janney received a scholarship to study in the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art after the completion of her studies at Kenyon College. Janney received credit for several small and rarely-seen film and TV appearances over the years. Her breakthrough performance in the role of C. J. Cregg on The West Wing on NBC The West Wing (1999-2006) resulted in four Primetime Emmy Awards.
